Merrell Jane Greene

Merrell Jane Greene of Houston, Texas, passed away on October 26 after a brief illness at the age of 70.

Beloved wife of Robert Gerald Rugur, Jr., she is also survived by her sister Mary Livesey of Houston; daughter Juliene Ford of Germany, with husband Andrew and granddaughter Genevieve; son Robert Rugur III of Florida; sister-in-law Sharon Whitt of Virginia, with husband John; niece Kimberly Currano of Maryland, with husband Luke and their children; and Esmeralda Zuniga of Houston, with whom she shared a special bond. Merrell was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Henry Greene.

A graduate of the University of Houston, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree, Merrell went on to receive her master's degree from Regis University. She enjoyed a long and rewarding career in the airline industry, which brought many memorable journeys around the world alongside her husband.

A lifelong volunteer, she gave generously of her time and talents to the Lions Club, Kids' Meals, the SPCA, and her local homeowners' association, as well as serving as a Tax Aide volunteer and an Election Judge.

She will be remembered for her boundless generosity, her spirit of service, and her enduring love of adventure and new experiences.
