Meta Stoffel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cantelmi Long Funeral Home - Bethlehem on Mar. 6, 2026.
Meta Z. (Zingermann) Stoffel, 95, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on February 26, 1931, in Bergenfield, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Clara (Bahn) Zingermann. She was the beloved wife of the late William Stoffel.

Meta was a graduate of Bergenfield High School and devoted her life to caring for her family. She created a warm and welcoming home and will be remembered for her kindness, dedication, and love for her family.

She was a faithful member of King of Kings Lutheran Church in Middletown Township, NJ, where she sang in the choir and enjoyed participating in Bible study. Her faith was an important part of her life. Meta was also an active volunteer and supporter of many organizations, always willing to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed.

Meta treasured time spent with her family, especially on family camping trips that created lasting memories for generations. She was also an avid bowler and enjoyed many years in a bowling league, where she formed lasting friendships.

Meta also enjoyed traveling, both domestically and internationally! Some of her trips between 1982 and 2004 with her husband Bill and/or friends were spent in the U.S. states of Florida, Maine, Massachusetts, California, Oregon, Washington, Montana, Arizona, Nevada,, New Mexico, Michigan, Louisiana, Tennessee, Missouri, Mississippi, Texas, Utah, Virginia, South Dakota, Wyoming, Colorado and even Hawaii and Alaska! Internationally, Meta enjoyed trips all over the world. European destinations included Scandinavia. Holland, Scotland, England, Germany, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, and The Czech Republic. Mediterranean destinations included Italy, Greece, Morocco, Egypt, and Israel. Of course there were also trips to South Pacific locations such as Fiji, Tahiti, Australia and New Zealand as well as China. Closer to home, she had North American adventures in Canada, the Bahamas, Bermuda and many Caribbean Islands. It's a wonder that Meta was ever home in New Jersey during these years!

She is survived by her son, Kurt Stoffel and his wife, Florrie, of Bethlehem; her daughter, Susan Gafford and her husband, Neal, of Fort Myers, Florida; grandchildren Erin, Robert, Laura and Kate; great-grandchildren Cameron, Rylan, Margot and Will. She was predeceased by her brothers, Robert and Donald Zingermann.

Meta will be dearly missed by her family and friends, and lovingly remembered for the steady, faithful, and generous life she lived.

A Memorial service will be held at 3 P.M. on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at The Birches of Lehigh Valley. 5030 Freemansburg Ave., Easton, PA 18045. Meta's arrangements have been entrusted to the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.
