June Hellberg, 98, of Moline, Illinois, died unexpectedly on Thursday, July 24, 2024, at home.
Mass of Christian Burial is 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, Coal Valley, with Father Anthony Ego officiating. Visitation is 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Monday at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley, with a Rosary at 4:00 p.m. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the church.
The former Mettie June Stout was born September 26, 1925, in Alton, Illinois, the daughter of Jones “Joe” and Mary (Piggett) Stout. She married LeRoy Hellberg in 1951, in Rock Island, Illinois. He died in 1981.
June worked at The Daily Dispatch for over 18 years. She was an active member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church for many years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and reading. Above all else, family was the most important thing to June, and she especially cherished the time spent with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She is survived by five children, Mary Payette of Mesa, Arizona, Michael (Toni) Hellberg of Queen Creek, Arizona, Pat Hellberg of Hewitt, Texas, Jim Hellberg of Wanette, Oklahoma, and Joe (Deeann) Hellberg of Moline; and her beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, LeRoy; her son, Kenneth Dale Hellberg; sisters, Buelah, Grace, Addie, Mary, and Hazel; and brothers, Herschel and Warren.
