Mi-Lyn Joan Dean Dolan, 71, died peacefully in her home in Coeymans surrounded by her loved ones on January 29, 2026.
Mi-Lyn was born to Milo Dean and Naome Dean on May 7, 1954 in Schenectady, NY. She is survived by her husband Thomas Dolan and their 4 children: Dolan Dolan, Rachel Dolan, Sara Dolan, and Neal Dolan; and by their 9 grandchildren: Grace, Jackson, Ashtyn, Michael, Jameson, Shane, Liam, Gabriella, and Magnolia.
Mi-Lyn graduated from Averill Park HS, earned AAS degree in Human Services, HVCC; BS in Community and Human Services, Empire State College; and MA in Social Policy, Empire State College.
Mi-Lyn had a wide-ranging career in human services, including caseworker at Rensselaer County DSS; O.D. Heck Developmental Services; director at Helpline; director at St. Patrick's/ Our Lady of Angels Outreach in Albany; executive director at ACRHA, director at Albany County Department of CYF, She served on the board of directors of the Food Pantries of the Capital District. She was the Coeymans Marriage Officer for many years.
Mi-Lyn loved animals of all kinds and volunteered at Catskill Animal Sanctuary. She donated blood, was an avid reader, gardened, loved cooking, studied tabla and the Irish language.
Mi-Lyn loved to travel to Ireland and particularly loved the music, Irish Travelers, St. Brigid Holy Wells, matchmakers and donkeys, Giant's Causeway, Doolin, Dingle, and Derry. She also loved to travel to the Scottish Highland, Glasgow, and Northumbria. She loved music including Grateful Dead, Lankum, the Unthanks, and would travel great distances to hear it. She liked Waking Ned Devine.
Mi-Lyn loved Bridget the dog and Amos the cat. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Mi-Lyn's name to Catskill Animal Sanctuary. A celebration of life will take place in the spring.
