Micaela Salazar Gandara de Gaeta, 101, of Lafayette, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025 at her home while surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 2, 1924 in Zacatecas, Mexico to the late Juan Salazar and Glafira Gandara.
Micaela was married to J. Guadalupe Gaeta Pallares in 1955 in Mexico, and he preceded her in passing on August 31, 2005. They were parishioners of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Lafayette. Micaela believed in praying often, as she was very devout in her faith. She enjoyed dancing when she was able, cooking for her family, and listening to music. More than anything, she enjoyed being a mom to her seven children.
Micaela is survived by her children, Flavio (Diana) Gaeta, Alicia (Pedro) Castaneda, Bernardo (Elena) Gaeta, Victorina (Jose) Del Real, Abel (Donna) Gaeta, Javier (Eva) Gaeta, and Castolina (Juan Antonio) Alvarez. She also leaves 33 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren to cherish her memory
In addition to her parents and husband, Micaela was preceded in death by her siblings, Martha, Salvador, Luis, Juan Manuel, and Maria Petra Salazar Gandara.
Visitation beginning with a Rosary Service will be held at Hippensteel Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 9th from 4-7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, December 10th at 12 p.m. at Church of the Blessed Sacrament (2224 Sacramento Ave, West Lafayette, IN 47906) officiated by Father Gustavo Lopez. Micaela will then be laid to rest at St. Boniface Cemetery.

Micaela Salazar Gándara de Gaeta, de 101 años, de Lafayette, falleció el lunes 1 de diciembre de 2025 en su hogar rodeada de su amorosa familia. Nació el 2 de septiembre de 1924 en Zacatecas, México, hija de los ya fallecidos Juan Salazar y Glafira Gándara.
Micaela estaba casada con J. Guadalupe Gaeta Pallares en 1955 en México, y él precedió en fallecer el 31 de agosto de 2005. Fueron miembros de la Iglesia Católica de St. Boniface en Lafayette. Micaela creía profundamente en la oración y era muy devota de su fe. Disfrutaba bailar cuando podía, cocinar para su familia y escuchar música. Pero, sobre todo, su mayor alegría era ser mamá de sus siete hijos.
Micaela deja en el corazón de sus hijos un recuerdo eterno, Flavio (Diana) Gaeta, Alicia (Pedro) Castaneda, Bernardo (Elena) Gaeta, Victorina (José) Del Real, Abel (Donna) Gaeta, Javier (Eva) Gaeta y Castolina (Juan Antonio) Álvarez. También deja 33 nietos y 29 bisnietos que conservarán su memoria.
Además de sus padres y esposo, a Micaela le precedieron en fallecer sus hermanos Martha, Salvador, Luis, Juan Manuel y María Petra Salazar Gándara.
La ceremonia dará comienzo con el rezo del Santo Rosario, se realizará en Hippensteel Funeral Home el martes 9 de diciembre de 4 a 7 p.m. La Misa de Entierro Cristiano se llevará a cabo el miércoles 10 de diciembre a las 12 p.m. en la Church of the Blessed Sacrament (2224 Sacramento Ave, West Lafayette, IN 47906) oficiada por el Padre Gustavo López. Después, Micaela será llevada a su descanso eterno en el Cementerio de St. Boniface.
