Michael Joseph Abrams was born in DeLand, Florida on September 23, 1997, and tragically passed away in DeLand on January 25, 2025. He was 27.
Michael was a shining light in the lives of everyone that knew him. He was kind, smart, ambitious, and goofy. He was a great role model for the children in his life. He treated everyone with compassion and respect.
Michael is survived by his father, Donald Abrams; his mothers, Kimberly Abrams and Linda Clark; his brothers, Kenneth Abrams, Brodie Carpenter, and Slaide Weaver; his sister, Brianna Gaddy and her husband, Tanner Gaddy; and the most incredible friends anyone could hope for: Collin Clute, Nick Eads, Ivan McGraw, Cole Rhoades, Dalton Cavarretta, DC Coffie, and Dennis Scott.
Michael was born and raised in his hometown of DeLand. He attended Stark Elementary, Southwestern Middle, and Deland High Schools. He followed his brother Kenny into Cub Scouts, in which their Dad was very involved and never missed a camping trip. He accelerated in middle school showing us what he was capable of and his love for mechanics. In his high school years, we could see he was bored and wanted to learn a trade in mechanics and so got his GED, and one of his first jobs was working with his brother Brodie at Coggin Honda in DeLand as a lot attendant. From there they both worked at Gary Yeomans in Daytona as quick lane lube techs then moving to the mechanics garage. Michael stayed on for almost 10 years at Gary Yeomans where he has earned the title of Senior Master Technician. He was a business owner. He also earned his HVAC degree in hopes of taking over his father's company when he retired.
During these times, he met many of his closest friends and extended family. We all watched and admired as he grew into the amazing man we all know and will remember. Throughout his time, Michael enjoyed photography, his guitar, singing, movies, investing, building, cars & working on cars, fishing, travel, and playing cards. His love for long drives reflected his adventurous and free spirit. Those who knew Michael will remember him for his infectious smile, his faith, and his commitment to spreading love and kindness to everyone he encountered. He had a rare gift for making others smile, and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path. His passing has left a void in all our hearts. We ask that you remember Michael not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Services for Michael will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at DeLand Memorial Gardens. Friends are invited to gather at 9:30 am, with a funeral service beginning at 10:00 am.
Following the funeral services, there will be a Celebration of Life at Nice N Easy Oyster Bar & Grille, located at 2109 North Volusia Avenue, Orange City, FL 32763, at 1:00 pm.
