Michael L. Aiken

In loving memory of Michael L. Aiken, born March 21, 1952. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marjorie Aiken, sister, Mary Beth Aiken Alvarado and son, Michael Christopher Aiken.
Michael went to be with his Lord on July 13, 2023. He passed peacefully at home with his loving family at his bedside.
He met his loving wife, Dorothy Aiken in 1998. He is survived by his children; Marjorie Aiken, Robert Valencia-Aiken and Thomas Smith, his four grandchildren; Alexis Aiken, Giovanni, Giulianna and Gianina Valencia-Aiken, all of whom he fiercely loved. He is also survived by his faithful, 4-legged companion, Ubu.
Mike's career included, service to his country in the United States Navy, as a medic, and he retired as a Chief Petty Officer, after 20 years of service. Civilian life brought his expertise to the medical field, supporting physicians in various surgical and clinical roles.
Mike's personality was as big as his smile and love for life. He was passionate about many things, including golf, chess, cigars, Detroit sports teams and his beloved sci-fi fave, Star Trek. He was a self-professed snappy dresser, always ready with a one-liner or joke. Mike loved music and was a talented singer, with classic rock and ZZ Top among his favorites. Christmas was his favorite holiday, he loved dressing as Santa Claus and cheering up all those who were around him. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father an grandfather, a collector, a jokester and a friend. His legacy of faith, family and service will remain in our hearts eternally.
A funeral mass will be held at St. John the Apostle Anglican Church, at 18401 Canal Road, Clinton Township, Michigan 48038, at 11:00am, Friday July 21, 2023.
Burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery, with Military honors at a later date.
