Michael Atchinson Obituary
Michael Atchinson, 76, of Niskayuna, NY passed away on Thursday February 26, 2026 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.
Born on March 19, 1949 in Schenectady, NY he was the son of the late Leonard and Loretta Myers Atchinson. He was a lifelong area resident and was a longtime resident with the Center for Disability Services living in the home on Lori Drive in Niskayuna.
In addition to his parents Michael was preceded in death by his brothers, Leanord Jr, and Patrick Atchinson.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Jeffes; brother, James Atchinson; his niece and advocate, Carly Kramer and many nieces and nephews. Michael was adored by his housemates and caregivers at the Center for Disability. Michael's legacy will continue to live on through organ donation.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 12noon until 1pm at Griswold Funeral Home, 1867 State Street, Schenectady followed by services at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady.
In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that you consider making a gift to the Center for Disability Services. Memorial donations may be made by check to the Center for Disability Services Foundation at 314 South Manning Blvd. Albany, NY 12208.
