Michael Avery

Michael Joseph Avery, 75 of Leitchfield KY, passed away on November 4th, 2025, at Baptist Health Hardin, Elizabethtown KY.
Michael was born on March 12th, 1950, in Louisville KY to Jack & Mary Avery.
He grew up in Shively/Louisville and went on to receive a Business Management Degree at the University of Louisville. After graduating U of L, he first utilized his degree with Kroger groceries in Louisville and then moved to Leitchfield in the 70's to work as a Store Manager for Horns Pic Pac/Key Market/Foodland until they were purchased by Houchens Industries and continued his career at Save A Lot until he semi-retired and went to work for K.C. Construction for another 10+ years.
Throughout his life Michael was known for his cynical humor, generosity, compassion for others and his pets!
He enjoyed working more than most people even actually do, his dogs were and have always been his babies, he would do anything for his friends and even a stranger if he thought he could help. He will be remembered by many (of those that are a little older) by the smiling friendly face that was always welcoming when you came into one of his grocery stores. After he retired, he was still always avid to help others in any way he could, he joined the Roman Catholic faith as a member of St. Joseph Church officially at Easter of 2025 and has been passionate about his faith journey that was noticeable and highly regarded by others.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Clark.
Michael is survived by two nieces, Christy Roberts (Gary) and Carolyn Clark; five great nieces and nephews and his two dogs, Patches and Rick. He also leaves behind many dear friends who will miss his laughter, warmth, and friendship.
Funeral Mass will be held at 1 PM (CST), Saturday, November 8, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Leitchfield with Rev. Sinoj (Paul) Pyndath, HGN officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 10 AM (CST), Saturday at Watkins Funeral Home.
