Michael Chester Birrell

Gorham - It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Chester Birrell, age 87, who passed away peacefully at his home in Gorham, Maine, on October 18, 2025. Michael was born on April 20, 1938, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Chester Birrell and Constance Miele.
Michael was dedicated to his beloved wife, E. Lorraine Birrell, and his children. He enjoyed a long and fulfilling career at Central Maine Power, where he retired after many years of dedicated service. His work ethics and commitment were hallmarks of his career, and he was well respected by his colleagues.
Outside of work, Michael was an avid hunter and fisherman. He cherished the time spent outdoors and instilled a love of nature in his family. Alongside Lorraine, he nurtured a beautiful vegetable garden that was a source of pride and joy for many years. Their garden was not only a labor of love but a testament to their deep connection to the land.
Michael leaves behind his children: son Wade Birrell his wife Robin, daughter Georgina Power, and daughter Michaelina Birrell, all of whom will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by his wife E. Lorraine Birrell, and a son Michael Scott Birrell.
He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Scott Birrell and his wife Martica, Nathan Birrell and his wife Rebecca, Cooper Power and his wife Cliodhna, and granddaughter Bryanna Power. Additionally, Michael was a beloved great grandfather to Isaiah Witt, Elliot Birrell, Marlee Birrell, Riley Birrell, Everlee Birrell, and Cody Birrell.
