Michael P. Boccarossa, a devoted husband, dedicated father, loving grandfather, proud veteran, Knight and Italian American, passed away on May 1, 2025, at the age of 81. His passing leaves a tremendous void in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
Born in Jamaica, Queens, New York, one of 6 children, Mike was raised in Albertson, Long Island. After marrying the love of his life, Sally, he settled in Commack, Long Island, where they raised their two children, Denise and Michael. In 1999, Mike and Sally relocated to Sarasota, Florida, where they spent the last 26 years together enjoying retirement and the warmth of family and sunshine.
Mike proudly served in the United States Army and was a Fourth Degree Faithful Navigator with the Knights of Columbus. A hardworking man with a remarkable talent for fixing just about anything, Mike worked for over 30 years for Lilco Electric Utility Company, first as an automotive mechanic and later transitioning to management as a driver training instructor. He was widely known as a "Mr. Fix-It" - from mechanics to plumbing, electrical work to home projects, there was nothing he couldn't handle.
He will be remembered for his deep love for his family and his passion for riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family, especially taking yearly family vacations, clowning around with his grandchildren and family dinners.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years Sally, his children Denise and Michael, daughter-in-law, Iris, and his five cherished grandchildren, Nicholas, Marissa, Andrew, Amanda and Jessica. His legacy of love, strength, and dedication will live on through them and all who had the honor of knowing him.
He will be deeply missed.
