Susan Elizabeth Hubbard , 64, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 19, 2025, in Bradenton, Florida, surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 3, 1960, in Barberton, Ohio, Susan was the beloved daughter of Monica Hubbard of Sarasota, FL, and the late William Hubbard. She is survived by her mother, Monica; her sisters, Kathryn McKenna (Plainfield, IL); and Laurie Stayer (Keith) of Jacksonville, FL; her brother, Bill Hubbard (Joni) of Annapolis, MD, eight cherished nephews, Jason (Veronica) McKenna, Shane McKenna, Kyle Stayer, Liam Hubbard, Jake Stayer, Duncan Hubbard, Keenan Hubbard, and Sean Hubbard; great-nephews, Jackson and Nicholas McKenna; and great-niece, Charlotte McKenna. Susan grew up in Akron, Ohio, and Naperville, Illinois, and graduated from Naperville North High School in 1979. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Florida in 1984 and a Master of Science degree also in Computer Science from the University of Texas in 1987. Her professional career began with Bell Communications in New Jersey, where she worked on pioneering projects in telecommunications. She later joined Princeton Telecom, contributing to some of the first internet-based credit card payment platforms-innovations that helped shape the digital landscape we know today. In 2002, Susan moved to Florida and joined Guardian Solutions, specializing in IT security. Susan's lifelong passion for creativity eventually led her to pursue a second career in the arts. A gifted artist from childhood, she studied botanical art at the Ringling College of Art and Design and later shared her talent as a teacher, inspiring students with her artistry and encouragement. Susan's life was enriched by many passions-her love of music, her devotion to cats, her joy in travel, and her quick sense of humor. She had an unshakable faith in God and a boundless love for her family. Her nephews and niece were blessed to know her as both a doting aunt and a steadfast cheerleader in their lives. Susan also built strong connections with her cousins from as far away as Washington State and Canada over the past several years and she cherished their relationship. In her passing, Susan continued her legacy of generosity by giving the gift of life through organ donation, touching the lives of several recipients. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 2506 Gulf Gate Drive, Sarasota, FL 34231, with a Celebration of Life reception to follow immediately at the church. The family suggests that memorial gifts be made in Susan's honor to: The Sarasota Humane Society, https://www.hssc.org/donate-now LifeLink Legacy Fund,(organ donor) https://lifelinkfoundation.org/contribute/ or Ringling Art and Design School, https://giving.ringling.edu/. Thank you in advance for your precious gifts.
