Michael John Boyd December 9, 1956 – October 27, 2025 Michael John Boyd, 68, of
Taunton, Massachusetts, passed away unexpectedly on October 27, 2025. Born in Concord, Massachusetts, he was the beloved son of the late Francis Boyd and Pearl (Feltmate) Boyd. When he was a young boy, Michael and his family often traveled to Nova Scotia, where his mother's family was from. Those trips created cherished memories and deepened his love for family, a value that remained at the heart of who he was throughout his life. A proud 1975 graduate of Coyle and Cassidy High School, Michael went on to attend St. Leo's College in Florida. In 2001, he was inducted into the Coyle and Cassidy Warrior Hall of Fame in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the school's athletic tradition-a reflection of his lifelong dedication to sports, teamwork, and mentorship. Michael spent many years coaching and shaping young athletes in the Taunton community. He coached Taunton girls' softball, American Legion baseball, and both basketball and football at Taunton High School. His guidance and encouragement inspired countless players, leaving a legacy that extended far beyond the field and court. From 1979 to 2010, Michael was the owner and trainer of Fontes and Boyd Greyhound Kennel, where his hard work, dedication, and love for animals earned him great respect within the industry. Michael is survived by his loving wife and high school sweetheart, Teresa (Fontes) Boyd. Together they shared 48 beautiful years of marriage. Their story began as teenagers and grew into a lifelong partnership filled with laughter, devotion, and endless support for one another. He leaves behind their two daughters, Katie Boyd Babine and her husband Matt Babine, and Linsey Boyd Wakefield and her husband Joseph Wakefield. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Ava, Brody, and Brock Wakefield, and Karina Babine, who all brought him endless joy and pride. He is also survived by his sister, Patti Boyd, and was predeceased by his brother Stephen "Twitch" Boyd and sister Linda Boyd. Michael was a simple man with a big heart who found his greatest happiness in time spent with his family. He loved gardening, enjoyed being outdoors, and was a passionate sports fan. His humor, kindness, and quiet strength touched all who knew him, and his presence will be deeply missed. Call hours will be held at the O'Keefe-Wade Funeral Hone 70 Washington Street in Taunton on Friday, November 7th from 5-7 PM.
