Michael Britt

Rowland "Michael" Britt, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 3
, 2025. He was born on September 23, 1951, in Lumberton, North Carolina, to Thomas and Helen Britt. Michael lived a life filled with love, laughter, and service, and he leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Michael will be remembered as a devoted family man. He married his soulmate, Deborah Foxwell, on November 3, 1979, and together they created a warm and loving home located in Lovettsville, VA. He is survived by his wife, Deborah; his daughters, Michelle Britt, Courtney Oliver and her husband, Thomas; Ashleigh Butler and her husband, Paul; his son, Lee Britt and his wife, Erica. He also leaves behind his mother, Helen Theodore; mother-in-law, Marie Foxwell; his brother, Thomas Britt; his niece, Maria Titchener and her husband, Walt; and his cherished granddaughters: Charlotte, Avery, Kensie, Katherine, Delaney, Erin, and grandson, Quinn.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Britt, and his brothers, Ronald and David Britt. Their memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family, who will carry forward the love and values he instilled in them.
Professionally, Michael was a skilled Mechanical Engineer, having dedicated many years of his life to Marriott Hotels and Xerox. Later in life he immensely enjoyed his employment at Lovettsville Pizza and Subs. His strong work ethic and passion for service extended beyond his career, as he also contributed to his community through his involvement with the Xerox Fire Brigade and Lovettsville Fire and Rescue Co. 12, where he served as Firefighter, President, and years later, a weekly Bingo volunteer. His commitment to helping others reflected the generous spirit that defined his life.
A die-hard Washington Redskins fan, he spent many weekends cheering for his team, sharing laughter and camaraderie with friends and family. Known for his infectious smile and laughter, Michael never met a stranger; his warm nature drew people in, and he made lasting friendships wherever he went.
His family will receive visitors on February 15, 2025, at Halls Funeral Home in Purcellville, Virginia, 12-1pm, followed by a short service. Immediately following the services his family invites everyone to join for Michael's Celebration of Life, held 2-5pm at Lovettsville Fire and Rescue Co 12. These gatherings will be a time to reflect on the beautiful memories shared and to honor a man whose life was a testament to love, kindness, and community.
As we remember Rowland "Michael" Britt, let us take comfort in knowing that his spirit will continue to shine through the lives he touched. His laughter and unwavering love will forever remain in our hearts. Rest in peace, dear Michael. You are deeply missed and will always be loved.
