Michael Ray Broadwater, known to many as "Mike," peacefully passed away on July 24, 2024 in Terry, MS. He was born on November 11, 1955, in Hazlehurst, MS to William Harvey Broadwater, Sr and Lela Kitchens Broadwater.
Throughout his life, Mike embraced the freedom of the open road as a truck driver and found joy in exploring new horizons. He believed that traveling behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler was the best way to experience the world.
One of Mike's greatest passions was supporting his daughter, Cassie. He served as the mechanic and pit crew chief for her racing team, always ready to lend a helping hand and share in her triumphs. His dedication to his family extended beyond the racetrack as he adored Cassie and cherished their time together.
Mike enjoyed a variety of hobbies including fishing, hunting, and woodworking. He loved horses and rodeo riding. He was always up for anything outdoors and took every opportunity to do things with his family. He was a proud member of Christ's Sanctified Holy Church.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Mike will remember him for his great sense of humor, unwavering support for his loved ones, and passion for life's simple pleasures. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the joy and laughter he brought into the lives of those around him.
Mike is survived by his wife, Latricia Ann Young; his daughter, Cassie Swofford (Phillip); step-daughters Mashelle Sawyer and Jennie Edgar; siblings, Connie Bynum (Richard) and William "Billy" Harvey Broadwater, Jr. (Linda); as well as the mother of his children, Sherry Broadwater and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Ray Broadwater, and companion and close friend, Denise Martin.
His family will receive friends for a Visitation on Monday, July 29th from 4pm until 7pm, with a brief Visitation from 10am until 11am on Tuesday, July 30th. The Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, July 30th at 11am. All services will be held at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Interment to follow the Funeral Service at Terry City Cemetery.
