Michael Buckley, 92, of Ocala Florida, passed away on January 4th, surrounded by loved ones. Michael was born in Chicago IL on December 18th, 1933 to parents Michael and Catherine Buckley. He graduated from Foreman High School in Chicago in 1952. A dedicated firefighter, public servant, and compassionate family man. Mike spent his life answering the call to help others-both on and off duty.

Mike proudly served with Chicago Fire Department starting around 1955, Des Plaines Fire Department in 1965 and Village of Rosemont. During service , he was known for his courage, calm under pressure, and unwavering commitment to protect lives and property. He viewed fire service not as a job, but as a calling, and he carried that sense of duty into every aspect of his life.

Mike also a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. He cherished time with his family and took pride in supporting and protecting them just as fiercely. He will be remembered for his integrity, kindness, sense of humor and the way he made people feel safe simply by being there.

He is survived by his children, Deborah (Donald) Walker, Mark (Marlene) Buckley, brothers Edward (Sharon) Buckley, Robert Buckley, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two of his brothers, son Michael Buckley and his wives Dolores and Gloria.

A memorial will be held on February 27th, 2026 at Saddle Oak Community Clubhouse at 5610 SW 60th Street, Ocala, Florida 34474 from 1pm to 3pm.

A second memorial with burial will be held May 1st, 2026 at St Michael The Archangel Cemetery 1185 Algonquin Road Palatine IL 60067 at 11:30 AM.

Michael Buckley's legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the people he saved and the example he set. He will be deeply missed and forever honored.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
