Beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at Klinikum – Aschaffenburg, Germany. At the age of 78 years.
The son of the late Howard Mose and Lorraine Ann (Richards) Bunker, Michael was born on September 12, 1944, in Saginaw, Michigan. He graduated from Saginaw High School with the class of 1962. Michael proudly served in the United States Navy until he was Honorably Discharged October 21, 1979. Later, retiring from the United States Navy on July 1, 1991. He married Kristine “Kris” Joan (LaBelle) Demers, on May 14, 2011, at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Saginaw, Michigan; she survives him. Michael worked at General Motors for many years of loyal and dedicated service. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Michael enjoyed woodworking and making several toys. He was an avid gardener, tending to the beautiful flowers he had planted in his yard. Above all, Michael cherished the time spent with his family and loved ones.
Surviving besides his wife of 12 years: Kris Bunker; are daughters, sons and their spouses; Michelle and Bryan Miller, Laura and Harold Lang, Amy Bunker, Michael and Shannon Demers, Christopher and Marissa Demers; grandchildren; Alex Miller, Dominic Miller, Trenton Miller, Patrick Bunker, Ameliah Miller, Gabriel Miller, Hannah Lang, Grant Demers, Madelyn Demers, Sophia Demers; great-grandchildren: Caleb Bunker, Brittany Bunker, Alayna Bunker, Kamrin Lang, Kehlani Bradshaw, Ryker Miller, Lillie Miller; former wife: Carol Guiette. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Besides his parents, Michael is preceded in death by his son: Patrick Bunker; great-grandchild: Lillie; brothers and sisters: Ron, Marilyn, Carol, Terry, and Sharon.
Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1165 N. River Road, Saginaw, Michigan 48609. Rev. Fr. Peter J. Gaspeny will officiate. Rite of Committal and Military Honors will take place under the auspices of the United States Navy at Chapel Hill Mausoleum & Cemetery. Friends may visit the family from Friday, June 9, 2023 from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road, Saginaw, Michigan 48609 and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of mass at the church. A Vigil Service will take at 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Mustard Seed, or the East Side Soup Kitchen.
