Michael J. Burdick

Michael J. Burdick, a cherished member of his community and beloved family man, passed away on December 15, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on March 8, 1949, Michael lived a life marked by dedication to his career, family, and his passions.

For over 20 years, Michael devoted his professional life to the Carrier Corporation, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. His experience encompassed a multitude of skills, but it was his warmth and generosity that left a lasting impression on those around him. A proud Vietnam Veteran, Michael served in the United States Navy, embodying the values of honor and service to his country.

Michael was a man of humor and kindness, often sharing one-liners that brought joy to those he interacted with. He was known for his charitable spirit and generous heart, always ready to lend a helping hand. In his spare time, Michael enjoyed watching old westerns and indulging in small carpentry projects, channeling his creativity into crafting memories. His passion for stock car racing—particularly his admiration for Dale Earnhardt—further showcased his vibrant personality.

A family man at his core, Michael never missed a birthday, ensuring that each family member felt celebrated and loved. He is survived by his two sisters, Estelle Edwards and Hazel Blazek; his nephew, Todd (Kate) Edwards; his step-son, Allen Wert; and four step-daughters, Kelly Reader, Bonnie Rawls, Lynn Paventi, and Carrie Holmes-Wert.

Michael was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty, with whom he shared 27 years of marriage. He also mourned the loss of his father, Carl Burdick; his mother, Stella; two brothers, Hadwin (Lillian) Burdick and Larry Burdick; and his sister, Evelyn Anderson.

In honoring his life, visitation will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, located at 705 N Main St, Syracuse, NY, on December 26, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. A graveside service will take place at Pine Plains Cemetery in Clay, NY, at 12:30 PM.

Michael J. Burdick will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, laughter, and devotion will endure in the hearts of his family and friends.
