Heidrick Funeral Home - PlattsburghMichael Burl, 54, passed away peacefully at home on September 22, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family. He was born on August 29, 1971, in Plattsburgh, the cherished son of Louis Burl, Jr. and Anna Yow.
Michael loved casting a line into quiet waters, playing with his dogs, and spending cherished weekends camping at the Squares. These moments brought him a sense of peace and belonging that he eagerly shared with those closest to him.
He was an enthusiastic fan of NASCAR and rarely missed the thrill of a race. Whether tuning in to the action or joining others to watch different races, Michael's passion was always evident.
Above all, Michael's heart belonged to his family. He married Jennifer Selander, his faithful companion in life's adventures, and with her built a home filled with love and laughter.
Michael will be remembered for his kindness, his steadfast spirit, and the joy he found in life's everyday moments.
He was preceded in death by his father Louis Burl, Jr.
He leaves behind family and friends who will miss him dearly but will continue to honor his memory, including his wife, Jennifer; two sons, Bryce Burl and Brytyn Burl; his mother Anna Burl; siblings, Theresa Banker (Corey Wallace), Tim (Penny) Burl and Tony Burl; step-son Ben Key; grandchildren Wyatt, Allie, and Emory; as well as many nieces and nephews.
His family would like to thank his aunt April for staying by Jennifer's side and helping care for Mike until the very end.
He lives on in every sunrise over a quiet lake, in the wagging tails of loyal dogs, and in the laughter of loved ones gathered around a campfire.
Visitation will be held at Heidrick Funeral Home, 48 Court St., Plattsburgh on Thursday, September 25, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. A Graveside Service to honor Michael's life will be held at St. Alexander's Cemetery in Morrisonville on Friday, September 26, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.
