He graduated from Sherwood High School with the class of 1970. Michael later received his associate's degree from Diablo Valley College.
Michael endured a stroke and debilitating back injury that affected him the rest of his life. He continued to further his education, taking several business courses. He received many accolades from Diablo Valley.
He is survived by his six siblings, Wayne Burnside of Hutchinson, Diane (Bill) Matlack of Burrton, Donna (Billy) Schrock of Garden City, MO, David (Carmella) Burnside of Reno, NV, Jeannie Kozel of Chase, and Julie Larsen of Great Bend; and several nieces and nephews.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joy Lynn Bittle; and brother-in-law, David Kozel.
Cremation is planned. Memorial contributions may be made to Haven Food Bank in care of Ott Funeral Home, PO Box 217, Haven, KS 67543.
