A memorial service celebrating Michael's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at St. Stephen AME Church, 501 Red Cross St., Wilmington, NC 28401.
His love and memories will remain in the heart of his loving and devoted wife, Rashel Freeman Byrd; daughter, Olivia Michelle Byrd; mother, Dorothy J. Byrd McGuire; mother-in-law, Julia Freeman; siblings, Delores Smith (William), Sandra Byrd-Gentry (Bruce), James Richard Byrd Jr. and Michelle Byrd Morehead; sisters-in-law, Betty Freeman (Wayne), Eleanor Grace Mosley- Byrd, Debra Coleman (Larry) and Linda Freeman; nieces, Carla A. Byrd-Johnson (Daemion), Karen Smith Graham, Tijuana Richardson (Malik), Candice A. Byrd, Kayla Woods (Tyler) and Kyndall Morehead; nephews, Darius Coleman, Carl A. Byrd, II, Sheldon Coleman, Kaevon Bracey, Jordan Freeman; special cousin, James L. Halsey, Jr.; godchildren, Quentin Williams and Erleen Ellis and a host of aunts, uncles, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, cousins, and friends.

I know this is late but just found out about Mike. Midge I went to Laney with both of you. Mike was a great person always smiling. I will be praying for the family. This one hurts
