Michael G. Canty

Michael G. Canty, 66, of Masonic Home Rd., died peacefully at home on Thursday, Oct 20th, surrounded by his family, after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 32 years, Felicity J. Mildner; his three children, Nathan J. Canty and his wife Stephanie of Holland, Charles P. Canty of Charlton and Susan E. Canty of Worcester; his five siblings, Kevin J. Canty, Joseph J. Canty, Diane E. Colby, Eileen A. Canty and Patrick J. Canty; two grandchildren, Jameson C. Canty and Gavin G. Canty and many nieces and nephews.
Mike was born in New York City and raised in Leicester, the son of the late John J. and Jean F. (Clapp) Canty.
He worked for over 30 years as a Rural Carrier for the US Postal Service, in Rochdale and central Massachusetts, prior to retiring in 2015.
Mike was an avid organic gardener and orchardist who took pride in caring for his many plants, trees and animals on his home farm. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Charlton as well as a proud Mason.
His funeral will be held on Friday, Oct. 28th, from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, with a Mass at 10:00am in St. Joseph's Church, 10 H. Putnam Rd. Ext., Charlton. Calling hours in the funeral home will be held on Thursday, Oct. 27th, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Burial will be private.
