Michael Gayle Carter, age 71, of Grayson, KY, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2025. Michael was born on Tuesday May 26, 1953, in Ashland, KY, a son of the late Gayle and Janice Wilburn Carter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Frank and Ida Mae Kimbler Carter; maternal grandparents, Jacob Wilburn and Jessie Wilburn Callihan; and one brother, Frank Thompson "Tommy" Carter. Michael was known for having a big heart. He loved his family and enjoyed company. Michael also enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting pool, throwing darts, and spending the winters in Florida. Michael is survived by three sons, Michael "Ryan" Carter of Grayson, KY, Nathan Carter of Hebron, KY, and Aaron Carter of Grayson, KY; the mother of his children, Judy Ramey; one grandson, Dylan Carter; one sister, Lisa (Lee) Stephens of Grayson, KY; a sister in law, Barbara Carter of Grayson, KY; his nieces and nephews, Frank Thompson Carter III, Robyn (Dean) Mays, Tiffany Grimmett, Chelsey (Hunter) Buck, Ariel Fannin, Shay Carter, Matthew Carter, and Braxton Mays; his dog, Lucky; and a host of extended family and friends that will mourn his passing. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at the Malone Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Grayson Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until the service hour on Wednesday. Condolences can be made to the Carter family at www.malonefuneralhome.com.
