Michael William Caylor, known affectionately as Mike to his family and friends, passed away surrounded by love on November 9, 2024, in Bel Air, Maryland, after a four year valiant battle with Glioblastoma. Born on October 24, 1964, in Baltimore, Maryland, Mike was a beacon of selflessness, courage, and love throughout his 60 years of life.
Mike is survived by his devoted wife, Lori Beth Caylor, his cherished daughter, Justine Caylor Rawal, and son-in-law, Atul Rawal. He is also survived by his mother, Marian Caylor, his sister, Roxanne Dimatei, and brother-in-law, Fred Dimatei, his brother, Christopher Caylor, and his mother-in-law, Barbara Thomas, as well as his sister-in-law, Vicky Smith, and brother-in-law, Greg Smith, and many extended family members. Mike was preceded in death by his father, David Caylor, and his brother, Bryan Caylor. His life has profoundly touched numerous family members and friends, who will miss him dearly.
A master diesel technician by trade, Mike dedicated 34 years of his life to Ryder, where he was not only well-respected but also celebrated as a three-time winner of the Ryder National Top Tech champion and a two-time winner of the Super Tech State of Maryland grand champion. His passion for his work was paralleled only by his commitment to excellence and the camaraderie he shared with his colleagues.
Mike's zest for life was evident in his numerous interests and hobbies. As a Master KCBS BBQ judge, he savored the art of barbecue, crafting flavors that brought people together and created lasting memories. A man of faith, he was an active member of the Mountain Christian Church, where his presence was a source of strength and inspiration to many. A true Baltimorean at heart, Mike enjoyed cheering on the Ravens, spending peaceful hours fishing, and delving into history and literature. His love for the outdoors was clear to all who knew him, with camping trips and BBQs being some of his favorite ways to spend time with loved ones.
Mike's legacy is not only in the accolades he received or the hobbies he enjoyed but in the way he lived his life each day. His selfless nature was evident in the way he put others before himself, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Courageous in the face of adversity, his strength and resilience inspired all who were privileged to know him. Above all, Mike was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend, whose warmth and generosity knew no bounds.
The memories of Mike's infectious laughter, his unwavering support, and his boundless love will be cherished and kept alive by those who loved him. His spirit, characterized by his kindness and the joy he found in life's simple pleasures, will continue to guide and comfort his family and friends.
Mike's journey through life was marked by the connections he made and the lives he touched. He will be remembered not just for the titles he held or the awards he won, but for the remarkable person he was.
