Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death and funeral services of Mr. Michael Craig Chason, age 65, of Broad Street in Avera, who died Saturday evening, March 7, 2026, at his home.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 11, in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Avera with family and friends speaking. Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky, Jeramy, Barnard and Clayton.

A native of Tampa, FL, Mr. Chason had lived in Avera for many years and had retired from the City of Thomson as a maintenance man. In his spare time, he loved to go camping and spend time with his family and friends.

Mr. Chason was preceded in death by Granny King, Aunt Fay, and Aunt June and is survived by his beloved wife, Shelia Lynn Norton Chason; sisters, Charlotte Chason and Sheila Larabee (Chuck); niece, Courtney Grabb (Joe); nephew, Curtis Noel; great-nieces and great-nephews: Jeramy, Jacob, Clayton, Avery, and Savanna, Aunt JoAnn Goins (David).

The family will gather at the cemetery prior to the graveside services on Wednesday.
