Michael Codella Obituary
Born and raised in Cedar Grove, N.J., Michael settled in Verona in 1979. Michael served with honor and distinction as a police officer in Cedar Grove for 31 years before his retirement.
Michael had a passion for sports, particularly for the New York Yankees. Beyond his love for baseball, he found immense happiness visiting Disney and traveling with his family creating lasting memories.
Predeceased by his parents, Michael A. Codella, Sr. and Virginia (nee DeTore) Codella, he is survived by his adoring wife of 45 years, Carol (nee DeFalco) Codella, and his dear sister, Rosanne Codella. He is also survived by his children: Michele Staples and her husband, Alec; Dori Borys and her husband, John; Michael A. Codella, III; Francine Pearo; Wendy Gabel and her husband, Dennis; and Cindy Costanza and her husband, Ben Vaccarella. Additionally, he leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, July 23 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Shook's Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove, N.J. A Prayer Service will be offered at 1:00 p.m. with interment to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Upper Montclair, N.J. Memories and condolences may be shared at shookscedargrove.com.
In lieu of flowers donations in Michael's memory may be made to Cedar Grove Ambulance and Rescue Squad, 651 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove, N.J. 07009 and/or Verona Rescue Squad, 12 Church St., Verona, N.J. 07044.

Rosanne, God will bless you for the outstanding love and care you gave to your brother. He was very fortunate to have you by his side. I will continue to pray for you that you will find peace and acceptance. We love you and we are here for you in this time of sorrow.
