Michael Patrick Criste, age 66, passed away unexpectedly on July 27, 2023. Mike was born in St. Charles, MO on March 21, 1957 to Harold and Rosemary Criste. Mike attended the University of Missouri at Rolla and graduated with a Mechanical Engineering Degree in 1980.
Mike moved to Texas to work for Texas Instruments and later married a Texas girl, Sherry, in 1987 and they adopted a son at birth named Joseph in 1995. He happily retired in 2016 after a successful 36-year career ending with Peterbilt Motors.
Mike is survived by his wife, Sherry, son, Joseph, sister Susan Bond and her husband Ted, sister Diane Signaigo and her husband Ziggy, sister Maureen Werner and her husband Tom, sister Shelly Brandon and her husband Fred, many nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, and Skye and Tiger (pets). He was a wonderful husband, father, and brother and will be greatly missed.
Many friends were often tricked by Mike's very dry sense of humor. His adventurous nature fed his passion as a rock climber, skier, sailboat owner and racer, aerobatic pilot, road race/ track driver, hiker, camper, and so much more. Mike and Sherry both loved sail boating and road racing together. Mike was beloved by many friends and shared vacations, camping, fishing, parties, and great times together. Mike was very gifted in repairing building or creating anything. Mike lived his life helping others every day. When there was a need he took action. Family, friends and many others in the community knew they could count on him. Mike was known for helping neighbors with home repair, backyard building projects, lawn and garden care, or whatever needed doing. except painting (he could not stand painting!)
Visitation will be held at Lucas Funeral Home, 700 W. Wall Street, Grapevine, Texas on Saturday August 5th from 3 to 6 PM. Please join after for a celebration of Mike's life at The Retreat-Church of the Cross in Grapevine, Texas. I am just now learning of Mike's death via a posting in Paccar World. I worked with Mike at Peterbilt, and for 2 years we worked closely together on interior projects. He knew much more about the issues than I did, but Mike was very patient in walking me through the details.
The photo of Mike shown on these posts captures him perfectly. But I'm guessing just about every photo of him looks the same. He always had that pleasant smile and twinkle in his eyes. He was always polite and approachable.

There are too many memories to share. There is not one bad memory I have of my friend. I can only say that there was no one I trusted more.

I was a fraternity bother and went to school at Rolla with Mike and then moved to Dallas and went to work at Texas Instruments. Great memories. My sincere condolences.
