Michael Dahlvang, age 53 of Belle Fourche, died Sunday, October 19, 2025 at his home, following a sudden cardiac event.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche.

Michael Lee Dahlvang Jr. was born January 17, 1972 in Staples, Minnesota. He was the son of Michael Sr. and Vicki (Kasper) Dahlvang. Mike grew up in Minnesota, living in Staples and in Oylen. When it was time to leave home, Michael moved to California, where he lived for a short time. Eventually he settled in South Dakota. Mike was united in marriage to Tammy Hunter in 1994. To this union two children were born: Seth and Marissa. After more than 20 years of marriage, Mike and Tammy eventually divorced. In 2023, Mike was married to Selina Lanphear.

Mike worked at the Black Thunder Mine in Gillette. He was also a load operator for the saw mill at Hills Products. Mike was forced to retire due to a disabling heart condition. He loved music and playing the drums. The louder it was, the more he liked his music. He enjoyed the outdoors and nature and he was very proud of his Norse heritage. He was also a very proud father, and loved his kids very much. He was a good man who will be greatly missed.

Mike is survived by his wife, Selina of Belle Fourche; son, Seth (Mariah Wainman) of Belle Fourche; daughter, Marissa Dahlvang of Lead; and granddaughter, Saylor Dahlvang. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Nina Dahlvang.
