LaVerne Dahlvang

The private memorial service celebrating the life of LaVerne Dahlvang of rural Staples will be held at a later date at the Schuller Family Funeral Homes' Verndale Chapel.
LaVerne, age 76, passed away on February 8, 2023, at the hospital in St. Cloud, MN.
LaVerne was born to Clayton and Betty (Peterson) Dahlvang on July 13, 1946, at the farm of Lawrence Peterson, Jr. (his maternal grandparents) in Aldrich Township, Wadena County, MN. He attended country school through the sixth grade and Verndale High School through eleventh grade. As a senior, he transferred to Staples Vocational School and studied to become a machinist, graduating in 1964. He moved to the Twin Cities in 1965, where he found work as a machinist.
LaVerne married Martha Marie Boelz on February 11, 1966, in Burnsville. By 1969, they bought the Perry Dahlvang (LaVerne's grandfather) farm and within a couple of years he was farming full-time until about 2013. LaVerne enjoyed being outdoors. Besides farming, he hunted, fished and snowmobiled. If he had to be inside, he enjoyed visiting with family and friends, shooting pool or playing cards. Most of all, he loved spending time with his wife, kids, grandkids and great grandkids. He left them with many special memories to forever keep in their hearts.
Preceding LaVerne in death were his parents, Clayton and Betty; and in-laws, Walter and Anna Boelz.
Memories of LaVerne will remain with his loving wife of nearly 57 years, Martha, of Staples; sons, Dean (Donna) Dahlvang of Wrenshall and Daniel (Shannon) Dahlvang of Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Drew, Hannah (Mark) and Connor; three great-grandchildren; along with brother, LeRoy (Carol) Dahlvang of Verndale.
Burial will be at a later date in West Lyons Cemetery, rural Verndale, MN.
