The funeral service celebrating the life of Verda Denny Dreger, of Miltona and formerly of Hewitt, will be held at 11:00a.m. on Friday, July 11, at the New Life Church of God in Bertha with Pastor Sarah Collins presiding. Visitation will be held on Friday, from 9:30a.m.until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Hewitt Cemetery.

Surrounded by family, Verda, age 91, passed away on July 5, 2025, at the Lakewood Health System Care Center in Staples, MN under the gentle care of Lakewood Hospice.
Verda was born to Harry and Ella (Schaefer) Greenwaldt on October 17, 1933, at their home in Germania Township, Todd County, MN. She attended school in Hewitt and graduated in 1951. Verda married Lyle LaRoy Denny at the Bertha Parsonage on January 15, 1952. Verda worked alongside Lyle on the farm while raising their five children near Hewitt. Sadly, Lyle passed away in 1976. She met and later married Wayne Dreger of Miltona in 2011. Verda enjoyed baking (especially apple pie), hunting, fishing, and playing cards. She also worked various jobs at the State Capitol, Brinks Jewelry, and Jodee's clothing store. Verda loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, siblings, and friends. She belonged to the Lioness Club, and bowling leagues in Henning and Eagle Bend.
Preceding Verda in death were her first husband, Lyle Denny (1976); parents, Harry and Ella; brothers: Harold, Ervin, Dennis, Lyle "Scotty", Glen, and Ted Greenwaldt.
Surviving Verda are her husband, Wayne Dreger of Miltona; children: Gene (Mary) Denny and David Denny both of Hewitt, Sue Pauly of Wadena, Allen (Deb) Denny of Brainerd and Janet (Steve) Kneisl of Bertha; 11 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; siblings: Betty Buhl of San Juan Capistrano, CA, Gene Greenwaldt of Pequot Lakes and Larry (Donna) Greenwaldt of Deer Creek; along with a host of friends and neighbors.
Honorary pallbearers will be her great grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
