" Mike ", ( as we're called him ) was a gifted soul... able to sing , play guitar ,write, arrange,play bass as well . Mike was witty, funny and comfortable to be around. As a teen Mike was a mainstay of the quartet environment, including the Twin City Union. Our love of quartet music drove us to try to be as good as our heroes and Mike stood head and shoulders with Eddie spanky Alford, sugar Hightower and Bobby McDougall of the pilgrim jubilee. As teens Mike and I learned many life lessons while honing our craft . Our mostly memorable experience was traveling to des moines, Iowa in 1966 as guests of a local group. MR. JOE DAVIS, JAMES EMBRY, LARRY'S RIDGLE, MICHEAL DAVIS, FEATURING GARFIELD BRIDGES AND MR. JAMES MEDLEY = THE GROUP MIKE MADE,......THE JOYLAND SINGERS OF THE 1960,S In addition Mike and I served as musicians for Rose of Sharon C. O.G.I.C,as teens . Mike is considered quartet royalty.
