Michael E. DeRogatis

Michael E. DeRogatis, 74, of Shady Side, MD passed away Thursday, February 6, 2025 in Paramount Senior Living Facility, Fayetteville, PA. Born January 19, 1951 in Newark, NJ he was the son of the late Samuel and Joanne (Snyderman) DeRogatis.

He was a graduate of Our Lady of Mercy High School with the Class of 1968. He also went on to acquire his pilot’s license. Michael was employed as a boat captain on the Honey Dipper for the West Rhode River Keeper in Edgewater, MD. In his early years he was a Washington, D.C. cab driver, he owned his own business A-Plus Couriers, and was a real estate agent.

Michael had many hobbies. He enjoyed sailing, playing piano and guitar, and reading. He spoke French and Spanish fluently and was a world traveler in his younger years.

He is survived by two children, Christa DeRogatis and Michael DeRogatis; three grandchildren, Liam C., Abbey J., and Ellie Mae DeRogatis; two sisters, Daria DeRogatis-Smith of Waynesboro and Victoria DellaRosa of Hazlet, NJ; six nephews; and one niece.

In addition to his parents, Michael is preceded in the by a nephew Anthony C. Della Rosa.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to SimpleChoice Cremation Services, Chambersburg, PA.
