Michael Doerr Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home - Bardstown on Sep. 19, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

On the afternoon of Wednesday, September 17, 2025, Michael Jaried Doerr, age 43 of Louisville, quietly and unexpectedly entered into the presence of God. The son of Lynn Marie Means and the late Michael W. Doerr, Jaried was born on September 13, 1982, in San Diego California.

Jaried, known affectionately by many simply as "Doerr," spent his 43 years on earth living every day to the fullest. He always wore a bright smile and shared joy with all those he came in contact with. While he was quick to congratulate others on their various accomplishments, he was even quicker to show up ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a friend to everyone. If he was in the room, laughter was guaranteed.

Jaried loved his St. Bernard community with everything he had. Whether it was coaching, working a fish fry, mowing the fields, or working the concession stand, Jaried poured himself into anything St. Bernard needed him to do. Knowing his last moments on this earth were spent serving his community is fitting to the man of service that he spent his life being. Doerr served his country for 22 years with the United States Army National Guard. He was proud to have retired from his military service after two deployments in Iraq. He was a beloved member amongst his team of fellow soldiers, and is fondly remembered for his kindness and ability to boost the morale of everyone he was around.

As much as he loved his St. Bernard community and fellow service men and women, he loved his family even more. His wife Teresa was the absolute love of his life. He adored her and was her best friend. His daughter Caroline was the apple of his eye. She was his bug and he was her biggest fan and loudest cheerleader. We will miss hearing his loud voice cheering both Caroline and Teresa on, but know that he will continue to watch over both of them.

Jaried is preceded in death by his father, Michael W. Doerr, paternal grandparents Bill W. and Patricia Doerr, and maternal grandparents Buzz and Rosemary Means.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of nearly 10 years, Teresa Fears Doerr; beloved daughter, Caroline Grace Doerr; his mother Lynn Means; sisters Jessica Glasscock and Jolene Doerr; Teresa's parents, Martha and Tom Wysocki; brothers-in-law Vincent Fears, Chris Fears, Nick Fears and Thomas Wysocki. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and countless friends, especially Ashley & Justin Bowden, Jaime & Nikki Pharris and Jennifer Higgins, as well as his many friends from the United States military.

The family would also like to thank the community of St. Bernard, especially Principal Julie Purdue, for their unwavering support and guidance during this difficult time.

His presence, warmth, and generosity touched many lives, and his absence will be felt profoundly by all who knew him.

Jaried's funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00am Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 7500 Tangelo Drive, Louisville, Ky 40228. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery will full military honors provided by the United States Army. Visitation will be from 2:00pm to 7:00pm Monday, September 22, 2025, also at St. Bernard Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Bernard Catholic School for the benefit of Caroline Doerr's educational account.
