Michael Haddon Dohoney, age 83, of Fredericksburg, IN, who left this world peacefully at his home on September 18, 2024. Michael was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose love for family and community defined his life.
Born on August 6, 1941, in Louisville, KY, Michael was the cherished son of Haddon and Louise (Perkins) Dohoney. He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1959 and later attended Florida Christian College. Michael dedicated 20 years of his life to American Synthetic Rubber Corporation before realizing his dream of farming. In April of 1994, Michael married his beloved wife, Donna (Colin) Dohoney, and together they built a beautiful life in Fredericksburg. Michael's commitment to public service was evident during his 26 years as the Posey Township Trustee and Assessor, and he proudly served as a Democrat precinct committeeman for 30 years. His passion for agriculture extended to his involvement with the Washington County Cattleman's Association.
Michael was also a passionate breeder and exhibitor of Treeing Walker Coon Hounds, achieving remarkable accolades including World Championships and multiple Hall of Fame entries. He was named Breeder of the Year in 1978 and received the Breeding-On Award in 1995. When he wasn't busy with his hounds, Michael loved hunting, fishing, and supporting his grandchildren in their many endeavors.
Michael is preceded in death by his loving parents and his devoted wife, Donna Marie Dohoney.
He is survived by his daughters, Karen (Danny) Libka, Kristin (Jason) Dohoney-Pilling, Kelly (Bill) Daggett, son Steven Dohoney, step-son John (Kelly) Colin, and his treasured grandchildren: Joshua Lewis, Jason Lewis, Jacob Pilling, Connor Daggett, Aaron Daggett, and Alyssa Daggett.
