Michael Robert Donovan

Michael Robert Donovan, age 46, of Westford, passed away at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, on Friday, October 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Kimberly A. (McCarthy) Donovan with whom he enjoyed 17 years of marriage.
He was the loving son of the late Thomas and Patricia (Haskell) Donovan.
Mike grew up in Billerica, MA and spent his summers at his family's home at Lakewood Cottages in Tilton, NH, where he enjoyed swimming, boating, and playing horseshoes. Mike and Kim spent their summers there on the water with their family and friends.
He worked at CVS for 30 years where he met many great people over the years, including his wife and several lifelong friends. Disney was one of his favorite places to be. It's where Mike and Kim went on their first trip together, got engaged and went on their honeymoon. Seeing his children also enjoy Disney made every trip better! Mike was passionate about music. He listened to music constantly and enjoyed discovering new bands and attending concerts. A lot of them.
He loved cheering on the Boston sports teams, particularly the Bruins, to which he was a season ticket holder. His favorite thing to do was to watch the games at TD Garden with his family and friends.
What made Mike the most happy was being around his children, family and friends. Watching Sara and Lauren cheer and play softball and Abby and Jake play basketball and lacrosse made him so happy. Being a father was what brought him the most joy (when they weren't driving him crazy!). He was more proud of his children than he could ever say.
In addition to his loving wife, Michael is survived by his children, Sara and Lauren Donovan, of Marlboro, and Abby and Jake Donovan of Westford; his sister, Robin Porter of Marlboro; his in-laws, Jean and Kevin McCarthy of Stoneham, Kelly McCarthy of Stoneham, and Michelle and Steve Rachal of Pelham, NH; as well as his nephews, Chris and Brandon Porter and his niece, Kensie Joe Rachal.
He is predeceased by his brother, Thomas Donovan II, of Billerica.
We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to all the amazing doctors and nurses at MGH that cared for Mike throughout his cancer journey, as well as his at home care team.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD. His Funeral Service and interment will be held privately.
