Obituary of Michael Patrick Dougherty
Michael Patrick Dougherty, 56, of Mesa, AZ passed away peacefully in his home on February 7, 2023.
He was born in Oklahoma City, OK on January 27, 1967, to Patrick and Suzanne Dougherty. He is survived by his wife, Jody Dougherty, and his two sons, Justin and Jared, his mother, Suzanne Dougherty and stepfather, Bob Castaldi. He is also survived by his stepsiblings, as well as several sister in laws and their spouses, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded by his father, Patrick Dougherty and his sister, Stefani Dougherty.
Michael graduated from Dobson High School in 1985 and then attended Arizona State University where he graduated in 1992 with a major in Criminal Justice.
Michael worked for the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community as a Gaming Investigator and then continued his career with the Gila River Indian Community as a Gaming Investigator. His most current employment was with the Department of Interior, National Indian Gaming Commission.
Michael was a car enthusiast and enjoyed spending time working on cars with his sons and friends and attending various car shows. He also enjoyed riding quads at the sand dunes with his family and friends over the years as well as boating at the various lakes in Arizona and the annual San Diego trips with his family for summer vacation. Michael also enjoyed hunting and target shooting with his sons.
Michael was loved by many friends. He created "forever bonds" with his friends and although the loss of him is immeasurable, so is the love left behind for him.
He was a devoted and loving husband to Jody and the pride and unconditional love he had for his sons, Justin and Jared is beyond words.
The Dougherty family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to everyone who has been so supportive during this difficult time. We want all our family and friends to cherish the memories that were created with Michael.

Memorial Services for Michael will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023, from 12-1pm at Meldrum Mortuary. 52 N. Macdonald in Mesa, AZ 85201. Following the memorial service will be a Celebration of Life at the home of John and Kitty Culver.
Michael will be buried at the City of Mesa Cemetery 1212 N. Center St. Mesa, AZ 85210 at a later date.
