Michael "Mike" Drab, 65, of Holland, Pa passed away at his home on January 12, 2025
Mike was born on March 15, 1959 in
Philadelphia, PA, to Margaret and John Drab. Mike spent the early years of his life in Northeast Philadelphia, moving with his family to Gardenville, Bucks County, in his early teens. It was there that Mike found his love of outdoor sports such as quad-biking, hunting, and fishing.
Known for his larger-than-life presence, love of German Shepherds, and quick sense of humor, Mike began working for the County of Bucks shortly after graduating from Central Bucks East HIgh School in 1977. His responsibilities with the county grew over the years, with his career culminating in a position with the Bucks County Department of Parks and Recreation. While with the Parks Department, Mike was eventually elected union shop steward, where he was known for his fervent and uncompromising support of his union brothers and sisters.
In 2004, Mike met the love of his life and the woman with whom he would spend the rest of his life, Chris Hall. After a few years of dating, they were married by an Elvis impersonator at the White Chapel in Las Vegas, NV. Mike's son, Garrett, acted as best man at the ceremony. This year marked the 12th anniversary of their marriage.
Together with Chris, Mike shared his passion for music and German Shepherds. Over the years, Mike was the loyal and loving owner of a series of shepherd dogs-Sarge, Rein, and their current dog, Storm.
After retiring from the County of Bucks in 2017, Mike's dream was to spend his time with his Chris at their home near the Churchville reservoir. When this dream was interrupted by Chris' brave battle with cancer, Mike was at her side until she passed away on December 29 of last year.
Everyone who knew Mike will remember vividly how he could command a room with his smile and his laugh. He could be the life of the party, as well as a prankster who could make you laugh until you cried. He was well-known for maintaining life-long friendships, staying in touch with and spending time with friends he had known since high school; with some being in his life since childhood. And while fathers and sons always have their ups and downs, since 1989 his heart belonged to his son Garrett-his "Sport". Over the years of little league games, tennis matches, and district-level Babe Ruth baseball, Mike was always on the sidelines cheering on his Sport--side by side with Garrett's mother and her husband, and eventually Chris, as a family. From the day Garrett was born, Mike was an active father who changed (cloth!) diapers, warmed bottles, and took his young son with him wherever he went. Mike also made sure to instill his love of Eagles football in his son, a passion that Garrett has carried with him to this day. Mike's investment in maintaining a positive and productive relationship with Garrett's mother over the years set an example for co-parenting that was a point of pride for both of them.
After marrying Chris, Mike discovered the joy of having daughters, becoming a constant presence in the lives of her daughters Crystal Beimuller and Jessica Litzenberger. Their family eventually grew to include Crystal and Jessica's children, with Mike spending the last few years of his life surrounded by grandchildren. Those who knew Mike in his younger days enjoyed watching the once-wild life of the party grow into a grandfather who showed a gentler (but still mischievous) side when he was with his grandchildren.
In addition to Chris, Mike was predeceased by his mother Margaret Drab, his father John Drab,,and his brother George Drab. Mike is survived by his son Garrett Drab, his brother John "Johnny" Drab (Helen), his sister Barbara Drab, Chris' daughters Crystal Biemuller (Fred) and Jessica Litzenberger, as well as their children--Ayden, Alexis, Dejah, Mckayla, Kareem, Dream, Hannah, and Alayia. Mike is also survived by the many sons, daughters, and grandchildren of his brothers.
Family and friends are invited to Mike's Life Celebration, Saturday, February 1st, from 12noon to 2:00pm at John F. Givnish of Buckingham, 4886 York Road. Interment private.
