Michael West Draper, a beloved son, brother, uncle, godfather, cousin, and husband, passed away on May 30, 2025, in his hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah, at the age of 58. He was born on February 26, 1967, in Salt Lake City to Lois and Timothy J. Draper.
Mike was a bright and happy baby, walking at just nine months old. As a child, he was shy yet warm hearted and friendly, a personality that remained consistent throughout his life. From a young age, he showed remarkable instincts and adaptability--he didn't even need to be taught how to ride a bike or drive a car; he just seemed to understand how things worked. Growing up he loved to play basketball, golf and go running with his father. Mike had a wonderful voice and participated in Highland High School's barbershop quartet. He also took the stage in the school's production of *Li'l Abner*, showcasing the spark of humor and charm that made him such a magnetic presence. Mike graduated from Highland High School in 1985 and reflected warmly on his time there.
A lifelong lover of fantasy, science fiction, and all things whimsical, Mike was an avid fan of Star Wars, Spider-Man, video games, and space exploration. His love for music was deep and enduring--Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd were among his favorite bands. He had a passion for radio and once held a job in the field that he often spoke of with joy and pride.
Mike had a deep and abiding Christian faith. He was a devoted believer in Jesus Christ and carried his faith with humility and strength throughout his life. His spiritual beliefs gave him comfort, courage, and a sense of purpose, and he often turned to his faith in both joyful and difficult times.
He also had a special bond with animals and a gentle, understanding way with them. He was a devoted and loving cat owner--his cats adored him, and the feeling was mutual. He was the kind of person animals naturally trusted, and he gave them the same love, care, and attention he showed to the people in his life.
Mike spent most of his working life as a warehouse employee and was retired at the time of his passing. Though he faced challenges in life, he met them with resilience, a kind heart, and a truly remarkable sense of humor. Known for his quick wit, sarcasm, and infectious laughter, Mike brought joy to everyone around him. He had a gift for making people feel accepted, valued, and entertained.
Mike is survived by his loving boo, Brindel Draper; his parents, Lois and Timothy J. Draper; his brother, Timothy F. Draper; his sister, Lori S. Tillery; his cousin, Michael Sean Draper; his nephews, Chase and Jack Michael Draper; Jareth Culwell; and his cherished goddaughter, Trinity Pacheco.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Norma Faye and Ralph Draper, and Edith and Frank Pehrson; and by his aunt and uncle, Kay and Michael Draper.
There will be no public memorial services at this time. Mike will be cremated, and his remains will be spread in a private gathering this August.
Mike's presence in our lives was a gift. He was full of laughter, love, faith, and insight--and the void he leaves behind is profound. He will be forever missed, and there is a hole in our hearts that can never be filled. Rest In Peace Mikey.

I just learned of Mike's passing! I knew him from working at ASAP. I am so sorry to his family for his passing. I am hoping that he did not suffer to much.He was very kind to me when he worked at ASAP! I did not know Brindel very much! But had met her a time or two at the shop! She was very friendly as well! Even though this is very hard! Please be comforted that he is not suffering! I think if he were to say something to you all it would be to say everything is okay and that I Love you all! Especially you Brindel remain strong I know Mike would want you to be!
