Michael Joseph Driscoll, 70, died Friday, February 28, 2025.
Born on November 20, 1954 in Queens, NY, he was the first born son of Joseph and Marilyn Driscoll.
Michael and his family opened up the Sub Station II in 1977 at University Square in Travelers Rest. They expanded to Taylors in 1979, moved the TR location to Mauldin, and opened the third location in Greer in 1986. In 1989, the store in Easley was added. These Sub Station II's have celebrated 48 years serving the Greenville County Community and the employees have worked hard and long in their devotion to Michael and the Driscoll family. Many still remain working today. Michael loved this business. Those who knew him well, know this to be true - he loved the art of making a sandwich and could talk about it all day long if given the chance. He and his brothers worked endlessly to support their families and their employees' families. Their children and cousins have all served in the stores at some point or another for the same goal.
Michael loved sports, especially baseball, emphatically the New York Mets! He was an avid trivia player and always hard to beat. Michael was a lifelong Catholic, serving in his youth as an altar boy and participating in the Knights of Columbus as an adult. He loved his family and friends and kept in touch with those he grew up with in New York.
On July 8, 2002, Michael married Margaret Barrett and remained married until her recent passing on February 9, 2025.
He believed in God and Jesus as his savior and has joined his father, wife, and best friend, Larry Michellotti, in heaven.
Michael is survived by his mother, Marilyn, 93; his children, Eric Driscoll and Stacey Driscoll; granddaughter, Ava Washington; his brothers, Kenneth and Stephen Driscoll; nephews, Kevin, David and Sean Driscoll; cousins, Robert Boasi and wife, Kathy, Thomas Boasi, Barbara Boasi-Perez and her husband, Michael Perez, Patrick Boasi (Michael's godson) and all their children; step-children, Michael Avery and Jeanna Stronkowsky and her husband, Joseph, and their children, Katherine, Garrett, Jonathon "JD", Addison, Joseph, Lilly and Amber. Michael loved being a grandfather and "Papa" to so many.
There will be a Liturgy of the Word performed at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast.

Coach Mike was my first and only baseball coach. He welcomed me as the only girl on the Boulevard Cardinals T-Ball team and was one of my biggest fans. He encouraged me and patiently coached me in a way that motivated me to excel and make him proud. I'll always remember his New York accent as he would say something like, "You's guys gotta get to that ball betta!" I played for him for 6 years and have so many fond memories of him and a baseball diamond. He threw thousands of ground balls to us...those years instilled confidence and pride in a little girl (me) who loved competition and making her coach proud. I carry that with me and do my best to pass that along to others in the opportunities God gives me. I am praying for you (the family) and his friends that God give you a peace and comfort that surpasses understanding as you grieve his passing.
