Michael James Dugas

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mr. Michael James Dugas, 69, announces his passing on December 23, 2025, at the Sage Specialty & Rehabilitation Center in Lafayette, LA.

Michael was born in Jennings, LA on October 18, 1956, to Mr. Rufus Dugas and Mrs. Flavia Cormier Dugas, both of Gueydan, LA. He worked as a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry. Michael was dedicated to his job and knew the value of a hard day's work. More commonly known as "Cuz" to the many people who knew and loved him. He greatly enjoyed taking leisurely rides in his truck to sightsee and visit with family and friends. A beloved father and grandfather whose memory will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

Michael is survived by his daughters, Holli Annette Dugas of Morse, LA, Michelle Dawn Dugas (Aly) of Morse, LA and Mikalyn Nicole Simien (Jesse) of Winnie, TX; his sister, Shirlene Broussard; two grandchildren, Kaymen James Dugas and Cameron Simien.

He is preceded in death by parents, Rufus Dugas and Flavia Cormier Dugas; one grandchild, Kaylee Jade Dugas; brothers, Emery Dugas and Rufus Dugas, Jr.; sister, Doris Dugas Melancon.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Sage Specialty & Rehabilitation Center.
