Michael Elliott Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Whitt Funeral Home & Oakcrest Cremation Center on Dec. 23, 2025.
Dr. Michael "Mike" Elliott was born in Washington, Pennsylvania, on April 16, 1942, to Robert Elliott and Bertha "Betty" (Palm) Elliott. Always a hard worker, Mike spent his youth as a paperboy and a caddie, and later worked summers in the steel mills.
He graduated from Washington & Jefferson College, where he formed many lifelong friendships as a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and enjoyed traveling with his fraternity brothers in recent years.
During college, he met his wife, Mary Ann May, in Pittsburgh. The two maintained a long-distance relationship through college and while Mike attended dental school at Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine in Cleveland. They married in Pittsburgh in 1966, after his second year of dental school.
Following graduation, like many in the Class of 1968, Mike volunteered for the United States Army. He was stationed at Fort Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma, where he served as a captain and provided dental services to the military community.
After completing his Army service, the Elliotts and their infant son moved back to Pittsburgh, only to realize how deeply they missed the close friendships they had formed and the roots they had planted in Duncan, Oklahoma. They soon returned to their beloved new hometown, where Mike opened his own dental practice. The couple later welcomed two daughters, completing their family.
Mike practiced dentistry for 55 years, retiring reluctantly at the age of 81. He took immense pride in caring for patients in Duncan and the surrounding communities, maintained close relationships with his longtime staff, and remained active in the local dental association even after retirement.
Outside of his career and family life, Mike enjoyed quail hunting and was an avid golfer. He was a loyal member of the Duncan Country Club since 1968 and faithfully met his "coffee club" friends every morning for decades.
Above all, Mike treasured time with his family, celebrating their successes and writing weekly letters to his children from the time they left for college until just weeks before his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Stephen Elliott.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Elliott; son Michael Elliott (Shari), of Edmond; daughter Rebecca Elliott (Fitz), of Austin, Texas; daughter Leslie Underwood of Lawrence, Kansas; grandchildren Caroline Elliott (Kellen), and Jude Elliott, all of Edmond; Quincy Meshbane of Austin, Texas; Elliott Underwood, Tripp Underwood, and Baker Underwood, all of Lawrence, Kansas; sister Bonnie Natanek (Tom) of Geneva, Illinois; sister-in-law Sunni Elliott of Farmington, New Mexico; and numerous extended family members and loved ones.
