Michael E. "Mike" Emmons, 52, of Bark River passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at his home following a brief illness.
Mike was born on February 8, 1970 in Escanaba to Frank and Lois (Beauchamp) Emmons. Mike attended Holy Name School and went on to graduate from Escanaba High School in 1988. In December of 1993, Mike married Gayle Lynn Forvilly at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Escanaba.
Mike helped his parents on their family farm, as well as the Lippens Potato Farm throughout his life. For the past 21 years, Mike and his wife Gayle had opened their home and cared for many members of our community. Mike took great pride in his dedication to not only the residents, but their families as well.
Mike enjoyed wildlife. He spent much of his time outdoors feeding the deer, tending to the yard, and hunting. When he was indoors, he loved to watch westerns. Yet, his greatest love was his family. He was the best "Grampy" to his grandchildren, and the best Dad to his four children.
Among survivors include his wife, Gayle of Bark River; children, Lindsey (Charlie) Rice of Bark River, Andy Emmons of Hyde, AJ (Ciera) Emmons of Munising, and Aimee Emmons of Escanaba; mother, Lois Emmons of Bark River; grandchildren, Addie and Tucker Michael Rice of Bark River; siblings, Ann Emmons of Escanaba, Gina (Patrick) Breit of Dallas, TX, and Michele Emmons of Grand Rapids; and many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Emmons and mother-in-law, Patsy Forvilly.
A celebration of life will be held at the Highland Golf Club January 7th at 3 pm.
