Michael Hal Englestead was born on March 15, 1957, in St. George Utah. His parents were William Hal Englestad and Myrna Wadsworth Evans. Michael passed away on April 26, 2024, at Red Cliffs Rehabilitation Center in St. George, Utah, at age 67 years 42 days.
Mike lived in Henderson, Boulder City, and Las Vegas Nevada with his family until he was 10 years old. The family then moved to Hurricane, Utah in the summer of 1967. He was happy to be in Hurricane with his grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Mike loved the small-town life where he could hunt birds, hike, play at grandma’s house, go to the Eugene Theatre, and roam the mills. He attended Hurricane Elementary, Hurricane High School, and Dixie High School.
Mike played a little football, loved track & field, and was a good athlete. Soon after graduating from high school, he married Julie Barney, and they welcomed their son Brady and their daughter Dallas. They divorced a few years later.
Mike was a talented tile setter and concrete finisher. He worked in construction and enjoyed working with his hands. Mike always loved being in the hills, hunting, looking for arrowheads, and cutting wood. He loved the outdoors, Dutch oven cooking, and exploring with others.
Mike had many friends, always had a smile on his face, and was fun to be around. Mike was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and in his later life, one of his greatest joys was being able to attend the Temple.
Mike is preceded in death by his father Hal, mother Myrna, sister Phyllis, and other relatives.
He is survived by his brother Robert, sister-in-law Julie, stepfather Keith Evans, son Brady, daughter Dallas, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives who loved him. He will be missed.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 11:00 am with a viewing at 9:30 - 10:30 am Saturday, May 4, 2024. Services will be held at The Latter-day Saints Colonial Chapel, 685 West 1500, Hurricane, Utah.
