Obituary of Michael W. Fanelli, Jr.
Michael W. Fanelli, Jr., age 55, affectionately known by family and friends as June Bug or Junior, passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Westchester Medical Center with his loving family by his side.
Junior was born in Utica, on December 26, 1968, the son of Sundee (Cronauer) Fanelli and the late Michael W. Fanelli, Sr. He was raised and educated in Utica, was a 1987 graduate of Proctor High School and MVCC. For many years, beginning in 1990, Junior was employed as a bartender and was the first smiling face to welcome you at the Finger Bullet in Utica, where he made many dear friends. He enjoyed fishing, camping, picking wild mushrooms and loved to cook. His greatest joy was his beloved children who were the light of his life.
Junior is survived by his precious children, Alexandra Fanelli, Christopher Fanelli and Liz Martin, who was like a daughter to Junior; his longtime companion and mother of his children, Jennifer Botts; his loving mother, Sundee Fanelli; sister, Kelly Fanelli and nephew, Bill Fanelli as well as many dear cousins. Besides his father, Junior was predeceased by his grandparents, aunt Marilyn and uncle Nick.
Visitation for family and friends is Sunday, November 3, 2024, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica, followed by a memorial service at 5:00 p.m. at the conclusion of visitation. He will be laid to rest in Forest Hill Cemetery in Utica. Those wishing to donate in Junior's memory, please consider contributing to the GoFundMe account established in his name.
