Michael Ferry Obituary

Visit the Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services - Cedar Rapids website to view the full obituary.
Michael Ray Ferry, 87, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was the son of McDonald and Onilee Ferry, the fourth of eleven children. Mick grew up and graduated high school in Boone, Iowa in 1957. He later joined the Army, serving his time in Germany.

Upon being honorably discharged, he returned to Iowa. Though he had a variety of jobs over the years, his first love was music. Mick played with bands around the state and eventually made his way to Arizona, Indiana, and finally back home to Iowa. Sadly, Alzheimer's robbed him of his livelihood.

Mick leaves behind his loving brothers, Terry (Gail) Ferry of Vail, Colorado, Jim (Liz) Ferry of Swisher, Tom (Sue) Ferry of Wallace, Idaho, Kevin (Beth) Ferry of Kingman, Arizona, and Kelly Ferry of Meadview, Arizona. He is also survived by Shawn Garcia, Tim Ferry, and Mark Ferry; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Graybeal, Kay Ferry, Karen Ferry, and Annie Ferry; and special cousin, Doug Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Shirley Hill, brothers, Patrick, John, Dennis and Tim Ferry; and brothers-in-law, All Hill and Bob Graybeal.

Special thanks are extended to Evergreen Estates, who gave him such loving care.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. and luncheon will follow at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Boone.
