Michael Fink Obituary

Published by Hartzler Funeral Home - New Windsor on Jan. 17, 2012.
Mr. Michael Frederick Fink, Sr., 46, of Libertytown, died suddenly Tuesday, January 17, 2012 due to injuries sustained in a collision on MD 75 South. Born July 29, 1965 in Washington, D.C., he was the son of John Pierce Fink, Jr. and Fay Rothlisberger Fink of Kensington. He was the husband and best friend of Lee Ann Riddle Fink, his wife of 19 years. Growing up in Kensington, Michael was a 1983 graduate of Einstein High School. He was a devoted and loving husband and his proudest days were when his two boys were born. He was an amazing man and his happiest times were activities surrounding his family and friends. Michael and his family moved to Libertytown in 2004. He was an active member of the Libertytown community, coaching baseball and basketball for the Libertytown Recreation Council. Michael Sr. coached for every team his children participated in throughout the years. He was a coach full of inspiration, smiles, encouragement, love and devotion to each player. Coach Fink not only taught technique and sportsmanship, but made sure every player was able to learn and have fun during practices and the games. He believed it was important for each child to have equal playing time regardless of their ability. He will be greatly missed. He was also involved with Northeast baseball, Linganore-Oakdale-Urbana Youth Athletic Association (LOUYAA) football and Frederick baseball. He was a member of Walkersville United Methodist Church. Michael enjoyed working for Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission in Montgomery County for the past 10 years. He was an avid fan of the West Virginia Mountaineers, the Washington Redskins and Nationals and enjoyed many other sports. He was the "master" of many barbecues and in his spare time he enjoyed carpentry work with his childhood friend, Doug Castner. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by sons, Michael Frederick Fink Jr. and Morgan Dean Fink, both of Libertytown; brothers, John Pierce Fink III of Frederick and Brian Thomas Fink and wife Melissa of Middletown; 5 nieces, 5 nephews, numerous aunts and uncles; father- and mother-in-law, Richard and Anna Lee Riddle of Weston, WV and brothers-in-law, Richard Riddle and wife Mary Friar of Cheshire, CT and Robert Riddle and wife Kathy of Olney. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 22, at the Parish Center of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Rt. 75 North of Rt. 26, Libertytown, with Rev. Steve Humphrey, former pastor, officiating. The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Rd., Libertytown 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday, January 21. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to: The Michael Fink, Sr. Memorial Fund, c/o Daniel K. Tregoning, P.C. 352 W. Patrick St. Frederick, MD 21701
