Michael Giansanti Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, Inc. on Feb. 28, 2026.
Michael Giansanti, 87, of Nutley, NJ, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born and raised in Newark, NJ, he was the beloved son of Michele and Rose Giansanti (née DeSantis), who emigrated from Italy. He later lived in Belleville before settling in Nutley in 1970, where he built both his home and his life.

Michael was self-employed for most of his life, with businesses that ranged from TV Cartoon Toys and Impulse Sales to RT 1 Flea Market. To many loyal customers and friends, he was affectionately known as "Poster Mike." He was hardworking, entrepreneurial and enjoyed connecting with people through his work.

Michael was a devoted husband, partner, father, grandfather, and friend. He found great joy in bowling, but nothing meant more to him than time spent with family and friends.

He is survived by his partner of 14 years, Fran Romano; his six children: Suzanne Garber and her husband John; Michael Giansanti and his partner Irene Mawker; Stephen Giansanti and his partner Donna Lauro; David Giansanti and his wife Lisa; Lisa Kelly and her partner Ricky Lordy; and Karin Giansanti; as well as 18 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

He is also survived by Fran's daughters and grandchildren, whom he cared for deeply.

He was predeceased by his wife of 39 years, Karin Giansanti (née Mauser); his three brothers, Raymond, Anthony, and Gerald; and his son-in-law, Kenneth Zelman.

Visitors will be received at S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre Street, Nutley, on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 11:00 am–2:00 p.m.

Michael will be remembered for his kindness, his warm heart, his easy-going spirit, and the way he made people feel welcome. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
