Michael Joseph Gibbs, age 72, of the Dedeaux community, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 23rd, surrounded by his family, whom he loved dearly. His wife, children, and grandchildren were all by his side in his final moments. Mike always cherished having his family together, and he had them right there beside him as he passed, with tears filling the room.
His wife lost the best husband of 49 years. His children lost the best dad, and his grandchildren lost the best PawPaw. The world lost a good man who would do anything to help anyone. His smile, his laughter, and the big, caring heart he had left a lasting mark on so many people. If you met Mike even once, you couldn’t help but love him. He was kind, caring, very hardworking, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Joseph Gibbs, and his brother, Anthony Gibbs.
Mike is survived by his mother, Betty Gibbs; his wife, Debbie Gibbs; his siblings, Carol (Charles) Stumph, Donna (Henry) Nooft, Patty (Mark) Christopher, David Gibbs (Denise), and Larry (Joy) Gibbs; his children, Angie (Lance) Curvin, Teresa (Scott) Walters, and Stacey (Carlos) Norris; and his grandchildren, Matthew Gibbs, Morgan (Hunter) Hicks, Rylan Curvin, Abby Gibbs, Jaxon Perrot, Bentlee Norris, and Brandon Winslow Jr.
He was very excited and looking forward to wrapping his loving arms around his first great-grandchild, Hayes Michael Hicks, who is expected to be born in May of this year.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 2nd, 2026, from 10:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dedeaux. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. in the church. Interment will follow at Standard Sandhill Cemetery.
