Michael Anthony Gibson

Michael Anthony Gibson, age 47, of New Salisbury, Indiana, passed away on February 6, 2024, at Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Michael was born on June 22, 1976, to Michael Gibson and Brenda Carpenter in New Albany, Indiana. He spent his life as a dedicated Tree Trimmer, serving communities throughout Southern Indiana. In 2013, he entered into marriage with Mary (Mattingly) Gibson, and together they made their home in New Salisbury, Indiana. Michael found joy in simple pleasures, such as hunting, fishing, gardening, riding his beloved Harley Davidson, and most of all, spending cherished moments with his grandchildren.
In his passing, Michael is preceded by his two brothers, Robin Dear and Stanley Martin Dear, along with his nephew, Jacob Dear, and great-niece, Breahanna Lynch.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Gibson of New Salisbury, Indiana; stepchildren, Mary "Pappy" Pierce of Marengo, Indiana, Scott (Belinda) Pierce of Marengo, Indiana, Jason Pierce of New Salisbury, Indiana, Veronica (Brian) Tillery of New Salisbury, Indiana, and Christine (James) Cole of Scottsburg, Indiana; a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his mother, Brenda (Charles) Carpenter of Milltown, Indiana; father, Michael (Cheryl) Gibson of Brandenburg, KY; sister, Jeanie (Tim) Roppel of Charlestown, Indiana; brothers, Jeff (Jama) Dear of Milltown, Indiana, Charles Carpenter of Marengo, Indiana, John Carpenter of Bunker Hill, Indiana; and Casey Carpenter of Carlisle, Indiana as well as several nieces, nephews, and his faithful canine companion, "Darko."
Visitation for Michael will be held from 2 pm to 8 pm on Sunday, February 11, 2024, and again on Monday, February 12, 2024, from 10 am until the time of service at Swarens Funeral Home in Ramsey, Indiana. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 pm on Monday, February 12, 2024.
Interment will follow at Bethany Memorial Cemetery in New Middletown, Indiana.
The pallbearers honoring Michael's memory are Jason Ebry, Veronica Tillery, Mary "Pappy" Pierce, Patience Pierce, Christine Cole, and Drake Tillery, with Jaxton Tillery and Brian Tillery serving as honorary pallbearers.
In the hearts of those who knew him, Michael's spirit will forever live on, cherished for his warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for his family and friends.
