Pap Pap is GREAT!!

Born on July 24, 1930, Mike was raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in a loving Irish Catholic family alongside five siblings, all of whom preceded him in death. He held deep affection for his family and fondly shared countless stories and memories from his youth. He attended Central Catholic High School and later participated in ROTC at Duquesne University. Upon graduation, he became an officer in the United States Air Force and attended flight school in Laredo, Texas, where he earned his pilot's wings.

From 1952 to 1958, Mike served as a flight instructor before returning to Pittsburgh to continue his flying career with the Pennsylvania Air National Guard, 112th Tactical Fighter Group. During his distinguished 28-year military career, he flew the F-84, F-86, F-102, and A-7D aircraft, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. In addition to his military service, Mike enjoyed an accomplished career as an executive pilot for Gulf Oil Corporation. His work took him all over the world and sparked a lifelong love of travel that he shared with Nancy.

In retirement, Mike embraced life with the same enthusiasm and curiosity that defined him throughout his years. He found great joy in creating stained glass, tending to his gardens, biking, and spending time boating. These hobbies brought him peace, fulfillment, and countless opportunities to share time with family and friends.

Mike was a man of deep faith and was actively involved in every Catholic parish he called home, whether in Pittsburgh, Florida, or Georgia. He and Nancy were dedicated volunteers and cherished members of their communities.

Known for his quick wit, affable (yet humble) personality, gift of gab, and his famously enormous eyebrows, Mike left a lasting impression wherever he went. His goal in life was to emulate his father's generosity and kindness, a value he lived out daily through service to others. Together, he and Nancy enjoyed a vibrant social life and were truly the life of every party.

Mike's kind nature, ready smile, and generous heart will be deeply missed, but his loving spirit will remain with us forever.
